Trip Category Descriptions
From Fly Fishing to Horseback Riding, Adventure Sports push outdoor enthusiasm to the next level. These trips are often longer than other trips offered by Touch the Earth and offer participants unique opportunities each semester.
Backpacking & Overnight Treks
Backpacking & Overnight Treks are weekend trips. These trips are often backpacking excursions. Leaders take participants through a trail and camp out halfway through. Other overnight treks combine multiple shorter hikes with state park camping.
Break trips are Touch the Earth’s most exciting excursions! Each semester, Touch the Earth travels to an exciting location for up to ten days. Prior example Break trips include Belize, Costa Rica, Colorado, and Alaska.
Day trips are easy ways for participants to get out into nature, if just for a day. Leaders take participants to local trails for a fun day hike. Day trips also include one day activities such as Cataloochee ski trips, tree climbing, and service projects. These trips are great ways for busy students to take a day off and venture out of the city.
Touch the Earth offers instructional clinics throughout the semester. These clinics are economically friendly and sometimes free. We offer rock climbing, backpacking, orienteering, geocaching, and whitewater clinics.
Whitewater & Flatwater
Touch the Earth offers both whitewater and flatwater trips to participants. Whether it is on Stone Mountain Lake or on the wild Ocoee River, Touch the Earth provides all of the equipment necessary to have a day out on the water. Some of our most popular trips include Ocoee Rafting, Nantahala Rafting, and Tandem Canoe School.
