Recreation AheadOur department is committed to providing a safe environment. We've implemented new guidelines to help ensure your safety and the safety of our staff. Our Recreation Ahead page outlines our new policies, safety guidelines, cleaning information, and other important facts so you'll know what to expect when you visit us and what we'll be doing to protect everyone. We are asking our patrons for their mutual commitment to help us keep our Georgia State University community safe while using our facilities. We've also updated our FAQs below to better provide the answers as you prepare to visit us.

Online Registration and Services

Registration is available online for Atlanta and Perimeter programming. In addition, you'll be able to renew your locker for the Student Recreation Center and purchase memberships for access to the Atlanta campus facilities and services. The portal, MyRec, requires your Georgia State campusID and password to access. More information for the various programs and services can be found by following the links below.

The health and safety of our students, members and staff is our top priority. We will follow CDC guidelines and the Georgia Department of Public Health's safe practices for cleaning. Please visit our Recreation Ahead page for more detailed information on our cleaning practices and what cleaning supplies will be available to you while using the facilities.

Yes. Masks/Face Coverings must be worn while inside of recreation facilities and will be in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing 6 ft. protocols. Masks will not be required while in a body of water or showering but should be put back on promptly once you have exited the water.

All staff will also be wearing masks inside our facilities, except when alone in an enclosed office/space or in outdoor settings where social-distancing requirements are met.

Anyone who is uncomfortable wearing a mask while exercising, or just prefers not to wear one, will not be allowed access and will be encouraged to take advantage of our online programming options.

Face coverings can be removed when in the designated eating area while actively eating and drinking. We ask that you promptly put your face covering back on once you have finished eating or drinking. If you are inside of the recreation facilities and need to take a drink, please do so while stationary, remove your face covering to take the drink, and then promptly replace it over both your nose and mouth. Please do not walk around the facility with your face covering not covering both your nose and mouth.

The designated eating area in the Student Recreation Center is in the lobby vending area.

Yes. Everyone who wishes to access our facilities will be required to answer a few brief screening questions and have their temperature taken. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be granted access and will be encouraged to contact the Student Health Clinic or their primary health care provider. It is required that you must be COVID 19 symptom-free to enter. You may be asked by staff to leave if you are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms.

Yes. Capacity limits will be posted on the entrances of the activity spaces within our facilities.

Yes. We will be following the CDC and Georgia Department of Public Health safety safe practices and asking everyone to follow social distancing 6 feet protocols.

Equipment lending will not be available. Limited laundry items such as towels and t-shirts will be available for checkout at the Atlanta campus. Patrons will be required to wear masks and maintain 6 ft apart while working out. Patrons will not be able to spot each other during this time. Please reduce the amount of weight if you feel a spot is necessary.

We've spread out machines and will have a rotation of closures of certain machines to help with social distancing. In addition, we've removed equipment with soft surfaces - stability balls, medicine balls, slam balls, Olympic bar pads, small stretching mats, ropes and foam handles. Patrons are allowed to bring in their own equipment.

Floor fans have also been removed.

Yes. Daily use lockers will be available at no charge in the Exercise Room and the locker rooms. You must bring your own lock for the daily use lockers in the locker rooms. The daily use lockers in the Game Room are not available until further notice.

Out of an abundance of caution related to COVID-19, we will not be selling guest passes or multi-use guest passes during Spring Semester 2021. If you have purchased multi-use guest passes and you wish to request a refund for your unused passes, please complete the Refund Request Form. Once we receive your form, we will follow up with you directly to assist in this process.

Yes. A limited number of Student Recreation Center reservations will be available to chartered student organizations and departments. Certain activity spaces may not be available and social distancing and capacity limits will be in place.

Yes. We will be offering online registration for programs and services for Spring 2021. Instructions on how to register will be provided once our Spring schedule is posted.
