Below are the answers pertaining to many questions asked during this current semester and the closures/cancelleations of our facilities and programs.

Yes, if you would like a refund for your membership or locker, fill out the request form. We'll then work with you directly to process the refund. Membership refunds will be related specifically to faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates. Payroll deductions for faculty and staff have been suspended. We will resume biweekly payroll deduction on September 11 and monthly on September 30.

We will be working with individuals on their schedules and the best way to accommodate rolling over any personal training sessions if they would like to do so. If you have additional questions, email us at fitnesscenter@gsu.edu.

Items not retrieved from Spring 2020 will remain inside the locker. There will NOT be a locker cleanout until the end of the Fall Semester. Lockers that expired in Spring or Summer will be automatically renewed for the Fall Semester. The Fall Semester rental term will end on December 15, 2020. Yes, new locker rentals for Fall Semester 2020 will begin on Monday, August 24, the first day of Fall Semester academic classes.

Indian Creek Recreation Area is currently closed for tours until further notice. Please continue to visit our website for more details.

We are following recreation facilities closures and currently, all events at Indian Creek are canceled through August 16. Events beginning August 17 will be held, with modifications to hours and guidelines. Once finalized, specific information will be shared with those groups who have reservations. Please continue to visit our website as more details are added.

The Touch the Earth Challenge Program is currently closed further notice. Please continue to visit our website for more details.

Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty of when the University System of Georgia will reopen our recreational facilities, the pool will not be opened this year.  We hope to reopen again on Memorial Day of 2021.

Yes.  We still encourage staff to get outdoors for exercise but continue to practice safe social distancing.

Yes. Daily use lockers will be available at no charge in both the Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms. You must bring your own lock. The daily use lockers in the Exercise Room and Game Room are not available until further notice.

Yes. We will be offering online registration for programs and services for Fall 2020. Instructions on how to register will be provided once our Fall schedule is posted.

Out of an abundance of caution related to COVID-19, we will not be selling guest passes or multi-use guest passes during the Fall Semester 2020. If you have purchased multi-use guest passes and you wish to request a refund for your unused passes, please complete the Refund Request Form. Once we receive your form, we will follow up with you directly to assist in this process.

Yes. A limited number of Student Recreation Center reservations will be available to chartered student organizations and departments after October 1, 2020. Certain activity spaces may not be available and social distancing and capacity limits will be in place.

No. Out of an abundance of caution, team sports activities will not be permitted. Information is subject to change. Please check our Recreation Ahead page for additional information.

The health and safety of our students, members and staff is our top priority. We will follow CDC guidelines and the Georgia Department of Public Health's safe practices for cleaning. Please visit our Recreation Ahead page for more detailed information on our cleaning practices and what cleaning supplies will be available to you while using the facilities.

Equipment lending will not be available. Limited laundry items such as towels and t-shirts will be available for checkout at the Atlanta campus. Touch the Earth Outdoor equipment rentals will be available. Please visit our Touch the Earth page for more information about outdoor equipment rental opportunities for Fall 2020.

Yes. We will be following the CDC and Georgia Department of Public Health safety safe practices and asking everyone to follow social distancing 6 feet protocols.

Yes. Capacity limits will be posted on the entrances of the activity spaces within our facilities.

Anyone who is uncomfortable wearing a mask while exercising, or just prefers not to wear one, will not be allowed access and will be encouraged to take advantage of our online programming options. Medical exceptions must be documented and approved through the Access and Accommodations Center.

Yes. Masks/Face Coverings must be worn while inside of recreation facilities and will be in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing 6 ft. protocols. Masks will not be required while in a body of water or showering but should be put back on promptly once you have exited the water.

All staff will also be wearing masks inside our facilities, except when alone in an enclosed office/space or in outdoor settings where social-distancing requirements are met.

Yes. Everyone who wishes to access our facilities will be required to answer a few brief screening questions and have their temperature taken. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be granted access and will be encouraged to contact the Student Health Clinic or their primary health care provider.

Patrons will be required to wear masks and maintain 6 ft apart while working out. Patrons will not be able to spot each other during this time. Please reduce the amount of weight if you feel a spot is necessary.

We've spread out machines and will have a rotation of closures of certain machines to help with social distancing. In addition, we've removed equipment with soft surfaces - stability balls, medicine balls, slam balls, Olympic bar pads, small stretching mats, ropes and foam handles. Patrons are allowed to bring in their own equipment.

Floor fans have also been removed.

The designated eating area in the Student Recreation Center is in the lobby vending area.

Face coverings can be removed when in the designated eating areas while actively eating and drinking. We ask that you promptly put your face covering back on once you have finished eating or drinking. If you are inside of the recreation facilities and need to take a drink, please do so while stationary, remove your face covering to take the drink, and then promptly replace it over both your nose and mouth. Please do not walk around the facility with your face covering not covering both your nose and mouth.

Georgia State University students who are enrolled in the current semester and have paid their mandatory student fees automatically have access to the SRC.

Faculty, staff, and graduates have the option to purchase a semester or annual membership. Spouses and children of students, faculty, staff, and graduates also have the option to purchase a membership.

For full-time jobs, you must apply through the main Human Resources site.

Students who are enrolled in the current semester and who have paid their mandatory fees do not have to pay any extra fees to be a member.

Faculty, staff, retirees, graduates, children, and spouses have the option to purchase a membership. The cost breakdown:

Yes, students who are enrolled in the current semester and recreation members can bring guests to the SRC. Each student or member is limited to 3 guests per day. The cost is $5 per guest per visit. We also offer a multi-use guess pass option for $3 per guest per visit.

We have two types of lockers in the Student Recreation Center -- lockers you can use free daily or lockers you can rent for the semester or the year.

Day-use lockers are available in the game room, exercise room, and locker rooms. These are free to use. The free lockers in the locker room require you to bring your own lock.

You may also rent a locker (3 different sizes to choose from) for the semester or the year. These are also in the locker rooms.

Student organizations and departments on any campus can reserve space at these 3 locations. Reservations are requested through our online EMS program.

No. Our fitness classes do not need registration and are free to join. Any current student, member, and their guests may take a fitness class as long as space permits.

Currently, to register for an instructional clinic, you would visit the Service Counter in the lobby of the SRC. We're in the process of having this feature available online.

Students enrolled in the current semester and Recreation members may register. Guests, however, are not eligible.

The first step in getting started with personal training is coming by the Fitness Center (Room 150 in the SRC Exercise Room) to fill out paperwork, pay and then schedule your fitness assessment. For now, this has to be in person, but we're working on making this feature available online.

Currently, to register for a swim lesson, you would visit the Service Counter in the lobby of the SRC. We're in the process of having this feature available online.

Students enrolled in the current semester and Recreation members may register. Guests, however, are not eligible.

Our outdoor trips program, Touch the Earth, offers many trips and clinics throughout each semester. To register, visit us at the outdoor equipment rental center. The entrance is on the lower level through the outside entrance behind the Student Recreation Center.

Registration for Intramurals is done online at IMLeagues. There are several sports offered per semester, both for individuals and teams. We welcome all skill levels!

To join a sport club, view the current active list of clubs on our IMLeagues site. Follow the steps outlined to join. Some clubs do require club dues to join.

If we don't have a club you're looking for, you may start a new club. There a few steps needed to get going, but we're here to help you along the way.
