STUDENT EMPLOYMENT
Recreational Services employs more than 130 students in various positions each year and is always accepting applications for student assistant positions throughout our facilities. Every year, Recreational Services seeks graduate students who desire to gain work-related experiences in one or more of the following areas: Aquatics, Fitness Center (Fitness Testing and Personal Training), Instructional Programs or Group Fitness, Intramural Sports, Marketing, Outdoor Recreation and Sport Clubs.
Applicants must be dependable, responsible, energetic, customer service oriented and team players!
On the job training, CPR, First Aid and meetings are required for all employees. A variety of training, certification and leadership opportunities are available. Most of our positions have a starting pay rate of $10.00. Other pay rates are higher based on required training and certifications.

Georgia State will be accepting applications for Graduate Assistantships in Recreational Services in the award-winning 161,112 sq. ft. Student Recreation Center. Recreational Services is seeking candidates with recreation experience in the areas of student staff development specific to programming and operations. Team members who are enthusiastic, hardworking and have the desire to learn new skills relevant to their career development are also wanted. Experience in supervision and programming and a commitment to quality customer service is a must.
Georgia State is in Atlanta, with an enrollment of over 50,000 students. The mission of the Department of Recreational Services is to promote healthy lifestyles through exceptional recreational programs, services and facilities. At the Atlanta campus, Recreational Services is housed in the 161,000 ft2, $30 million Student Recreation Center (SRC). Our two off-campus sites are also managed by the department; Panthersville Recreation Complex, an outdoor lighted multi-purpose athletic field area, and the Indian Creek Recreation Area which includes the Lodge, Challenge Course, Outpost, outdoor pool, event lawn and sand volleyball court. The department also offers recreation opportunities at our five Perimeter campus locations.

Qualifications are particular to each position and program area. Some positions will have specific degree requirements. General qualifications include undergraduate recreation staff experience relevant to the position, excellent customer service skills, ability to work as a team player, initiative and excellent communication skills. Additional Salary Information: Stipend of up to $4,500 per fall and spring semester plus up to $3,600 for summer (depending on appointment/hours worked), with in-state or out-of-state tuition waiver. The appointment is on a semester-to-semester basis dependent upon job performance and availability of funding. These amounts are based on an average of 20 hours of work per week during the academic semester but could be less based on funding and needs. The student will assume responsibility for all student fees.
