AQUATICS
The Atlanta Campus Aquatics Center will undergo significant renovations during summer 2025. While we are excited about these improvements that will enhance your swimming experience, significant improvements mean the Aquatics Center will be closed beginning on April 29, 2025. During this period, we encourage you to visit the Aquatics Center on the Clarkston campus, which will remain open and ready to welcome you.
The Aquatic Center in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) has an 8-lane lap pool, leisure pool, spa and vortex. Patrons may drop-in swim anytime the pool is open. Outside the Aquatic Center, we have a patio with lounge chairs and a small event lawn. Every semester we offer various scheduled activities. The current semester's programs are listed below. The Aquatic Center closes 15 minutes before the closing time of the SRC.
Accommodations
Chair lifts and wheelchairs are available for those who need accommodations. Please notify the equipment issue desk (404-413-1770) 30 minutes prior to your swim.
All Gender Locker Room - ADA Accessible: An all gender locker room is located on the lower level (LL) of the SRC attached to the Aquatic Center. This locker room can be accessed by the main LL hallway and via the Aquatic Center deck. The all gender locker room has disability-inclusive features such as lowered lockers, infant changing station, shower benches and transfer assist bars.

Lifeguarding
Interested in becoming a lifeguard? Participants in this American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification course will learn materials both in-person and online (i.e., blended learning).
Pre-requisite skills: Candidates should be able to swim 300 yards continuously while demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing; tread water for two minutes with only the use of legs; and complete a timed diving event.

Participants are required to attend all hours of the course, actively engage in all activities, and successfully pass both a written exam and skills assessment.

No, guest passes will not be sold at the Clarkston Campus. Only current members will have access to the facility during this period.
Adult Group Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are designed to promote aquatic safety and progression one-on-one or group instruction. Our primary goal is to teach participants to swim to the best of their ability in a safe and fun environment.
Which class is right for me?
Beginner 1 - Conquer fear of water and learn freestyle stroke in our group Beginner Swim Lessons. Our experienced instructors will guide you through mastering the basics and passing the water competency test with confidence.
Skills - water fear, floating, glides, freestyle stroke, treading water, and water competency test.
Beginner 2 - Dive deeper into your swimming journey with our Beginner 2 Group Swim Lessons! Enhance your freestyle stamina, perfect your treading water technique, and master the graceful breaststroke under the guidance of our expert instructors.
Skills - freestyle stroke, treading water, swim for exercise, breaststroke, and extended water competency test.
Intermediate 1 - Take your swimming to the next level with our Intermediate 1 Group! Refine your freestyle and breaststroke techniques, master the art of treading water, and dive into learning the backstroke and flip turns.
Skills - freestyle, breaststroke, swim for exercise, treading water, backstroke, and flip turns.
Intermediate 2 - Elevate your swimming skills with our Intermediate 2 Group! Build on your existing techniques from Intermediate 1, refine your backstroke and flip turns, and dive deeper into mastering the butterfly and diving.
Skills - freestyle, breaststroke, swim for exercise, treading water, backstroke, flip turns, butterfly, and diving.

Refunds
Group swim lesson clinics that have not met the minimum enrollment requirements will be cancelled, and refunds will be issued. Participants will be notified via their email regarding any class notifications.
Private Swim Lessons
Interested in private lessons? Begin by purchasing a swim assessment package and add on your desired number of 45-minute lessons. Lessons are scheduled at the mutual meeting time of instructors and participants. Packages must be used in their entirety by the end of the semester in which they were purchased. Unused lessons do not roll over to consecutive semesters.
